Smile How muchcan i sell my 85 gs for???

I am looking to sell my 85 rx7, but i need to know how much it's worth, it has 110k miles on it, no dents whatsoever, needs a new paint job, or touchup on rear left fender, needs new blinker switch on steering column, interior is in pretty good condition, drivers side door panel needs replaced, the drivers side seat has a rip, but has seat covers, i bought a blue shift ***, and custom painted the gauge plate, and instrument panel, i cranked the engine up today for the first time in a couple of months, and it's like the throttle is stuck, i think it needs a new fuel pump, cuz when you crank it, gas just shoots out of the line without pumping the gas, it runs good otherwise, last time i ran it, it accelerated like a dream, how much is this car worth?????? i am located in Chattanooga, tn, if somone might be interested, i have attached some pics(they suck, the car looks much better when clean, some air in the tires, and using a $25 digital camera makes them worse) you mazda gurus tell me how much this thing is worth

Unhappy

Sorry, Buckaroo

Given that it's a GS, and not a GSL, it doesn't have the rear disk brakes, or the LSD. Lots of 1st gens need a good paint job, my two included. Given your description you'd should be happy if someone offers you a Grand for it, but it's more likely that you'll only get $500 to $750.....

I know....I know....She's been a good little hoss, but the memories only belong to you, as do the few mods you've made. They look good, and you're happy with 'em, but to be honest they don't really add anything to its total value.

Had kind of the same experience with my '86 GSL. I was only asking $1,500, and I've done a large number of mechanical improvements, but nobody wanted her.....To be frank, I'm really sort of glad. I love this little hoss, and I've shed skin and blood on 'er lots of times. Yeah, she needs paint, and evil rust is trying to get her, but she's paid for, inexpensive to own and run, and she's more fun than a quarter-horse barrel race to throw thru the twisties....So I'll just keep 'er, keep improving 'er, and unless some true blue 7 Cowboy convinces me that he's the one, this little princess will stay in the 7th heaven corncrib....

Mr. Wankel...
I don't believe you got screwed. You got your baby, and horsin' around in a 7 is just plain fun....Don't let it bug yuh. Keep your eyes and ears open and a good deal will come down the fence-line for yuh. Good things happen to Good people!

Mileage...My SE (13B) gets exactly 25 mpg, and my GSL gets a bit more, but I gotta get serious about learning that 4-barrel...I'd say it's about 27 mpg if I am judious about the loud pedal...He, he, he....

Denny - what all have you done to get such great gas mileage? What kind of tuning techniques?

Thank you in advance!

I paid 3700 for mine, theres almost 0 rust and the interior is mint. Also this is 3700 Canadian dollars. Also there isn't a whole lot of 7's where i live so finding a 7 in good condition is very hard.

Cool

Well, FlyGuy...

I run synthetic in the gearbox and rearend. K&N in the filter boxes, header on the GSL....I'm real picky 'bout my electrics, every oil change/grease job (3000 Mi.) sand-blast clean plugs, new plugs every 10,000...New NGK plug wires. Replace fuel filter every 10,000. Timing set at factory specs. MMO in crackcase and fuel tank every oil change, and MMO cleaning job every 10,000. Only use Shell fuel or Marathon...They have no methanol/alcohol in their fuel. Correct tire pressures...32 to 35.

Went up to Cleveland in my SE to visit my Mom and my 74 Saab Sonnet, 300 miles round trip....exactly 25 mpg, set cruise at 70 mph, but every once in a while just hadda scorch some outlaw's doors...He, He, he...

Not showin' off...Just showin'

I paid a 1000 bucks for mine, it was in very decent condition... I have since crashed and fixed it again with a new paint job, interior is soon to be like new when I get some door panels... Its perfect for the fact that the door panels are in horrible conditon... 140k on the motor, exaust, and suspension... I know that I could get at least 2000 for the car and quite very possibly upwards of 3 if I find the right buyer... The thing is that they are rare around here... This is Mustang country. And in the city there are a number of Puerto Ricans who want it bad... I get offered at least 3 times a week to sell it, but havent got the money to replace it yet with something else...

I just bought my 85 GS, with 46k original miles, original paint, flawless interior and no rust whatsoever. It's never been wrecked and was stored winters since the second owner bought it in 1990. I paid $2,500 and was happy. I've put new rear shoes on for $40, put 2.5 pounds of freon in it (Ouch, $150) and am waiting for RB exhaust. When that's done, it will be better than the 83GSL I sold in 1990 for $6,900. One regret: No sunroof. My head scrapes the headliner, and I miss the open air.

I purchased my 84 in good condition from my dad for $500. Needed new tires, battery, fuel, oil, and air filters. It had been sitting there for almost 2 years and runs like a champ. I'm quite happy.
