Are you going to drive it like it is or do you want a stick? If you want to change the trans deduct that amount from your amount you wish to spend. Has it got bin rust, wheel well rut, has it been driven lately.....more info required.

P.S. I paid $350, $375 and $250 for my last 3 running GSLs....but I'm a cheap bastard....lol

With no rust it is a good find but remember to add the cost of the change over to manual to your overall cost, I wouldn't pay any more than $650 with no rust, perfect interior, good mechanicals, decent paint....IMHO. Then find a wrecked car for the parts.

Get it as cheap as you can. The less you spend now, the more you have to spend on it later. (Repairs, modifications, etc.) I haven't had any luck finding even a GS or S for under a grand. If you can snag it for $500 or less, I would say thats a pretty good deal.

I paid 300 for an 85 GSL, 100k, but it had a tweaked front end.

and I paid 500 for an 81 GSL it wasn't running right and had a rusty/bondo filled corner.

If it looks a good as you are saying it is worth 1K to 1500.

I would not buy an auto, but for parts.

It'd have to be incredible for me to pay $1k for it, I stand by my $650 at most.
