How much to rebuild a 13B engine??

I was thinking of buying a GSL-SE but the engine has to be re-built. What is your experience in the labor and material to re-build a 13B...I can not do it myself and have to pay someone. Someone told me send the engine to Mazdatrix and they will do it for 2200.00..That seems high to me. Any suggestions out there..I am in NC, know anyone in NC who is reliable?? Any suggestions?? Thanks....cjf..................................... ..

The big names are Mazdatrix, Pineapple racing , Atkins, Rotory performance and many others. All very good engine shops. Pineapple is probably the most recomended engine shop though. www.pineappleracing.com

You can get a rebuilt motor from Atkins Rotary for cheaper that that I think. Lots of guys just go to the junkyard and revive an old motor with good success. Lots of people would drive like grannys and never blow the carbon out of the motor so it would eventually carbon lock. Or the Oil Metering Pump would go out and the motor would quit. So the poor fools upon seeing the high price on a rebuild would send the car to the junkyard. Then you go pick up the motor from the yard, revive it with ATF/MMO, and drop it in your car.

well most shops want about 2k with a rebuildable core for a stock motor porting cost extra. when i do a motor with a rebuildable core i get 1600 for a ported motor(street) thats a bare bones rebuilt new seals gaskets and such, if you want high performance parts that cost extra. paint the plats(or powder coat) costs extra. then add in shipping. we also offer warr. and installs add 600 for us to remove and install a n/a motor. all warrentys have oil change and tune ups listed in them and MUST BE FOLLOWED or the warr. is void. and there is a break in rpm limit. havent had a complant yet
