how much to rebuild a 12a?

I found some 12a's in the junk yard and was wondering how much it would cost to rebuildld it. I would like to know the minimum and the maximum prices for a rebuild... Might be a fun project to put in my brother's 84 celica

The maximum cost is unlimited, depending on what you do to the engine. A reasonable max cost is the cost of a brand new engine from someone like mazdatrix or atkinsrotary. So that $950-$1900 depending on whether you go brand new, rebuild, or rebuild j-spec imported. Minimum cost is $0.00, but again, thats unlikely. Lets say you spend $150 on a gasket kit and reuse all the apex seals, side seals, and the other rotor seals and the housings and plates are all useable. So there you have it. A rough guesstimate for a new 12A

$900 for the gasket and rebuild kits from Mazdatrix and then you pray that all your hard parts are still good....rotors, housings, etc....that's the minimum...maximum can be any number you choose this side of $18,000 but higher than the minimum, of course....

ok question 2... If I have 3 junkyard 12a's, how likely is it that I will come up with enough parts for one good one in the end?

Somewhere between nil and 0 lol, J/K. Can't say really. How many miles, how it was mantained and how they were driven will make a big difference. If you are going to put a rotary in a Celica, why not a 13B turbo?

You'll still need new springs, seals and gaskets...hence the minimum $900...

Hey, if longevity isn't a concern, you can always just pop for the gasket set at $140, new seals and springs (steel) for $280 and try the 3 engine into one idea...
