how much power have I gained???

I know its not much, just curious...... I had a stock 79 car/motor....... Put an 83 header on it....... not exhaust... just the header, and the little pipe that extends off of it.... I played with the intake a bit.... took all the lumps out, that were harming flow on the secondaries... took off emissions..... about to go mechanical secondaries like sterling's report had....... also got the a/c compressor out.... and the air pump off..... (no belts, only on alternator).....

How much HP do you think I gained? 5-15? Will I be able to notice in my test drive???

I havent finished everything yet, but probably will tomarrow...... this stuff is temperary.....

I am going to put a straight pipe back to the stock muffler......and put the a/c compressor back on...... how much HP will I loose when I do that? 2HP?

THANX.... LATERZ.......Andrew

I ask this cause I want to know....... Oh, and when/if I put "NAWS" on my car, I will be sure to have 2 BIG *** flags that says NOS on them.... and I will make the shot big enough to blow the block away.......BOOM......

I am just really curious as to how much a stock 79 rotary with free flowing exhaust will produce.... thats all... no need to be **** about it.......

with a straight pipe, i'd say about... 10-15 horses... with the pump and a/c off, maybe an extra 3-5...

I ran a header with stock muffler for about a year (maybe 10 HP). If you really want to see a difference in HP, get a high flow muffler (the stock is super restrictive)- I added the RB muffler/presilenser last year and would guess I added 20 to 25 HP compared to a stock set up. The air pump and A/C won't give you much - 3 to 5 was mentioned above - I'd say that's generous (maybe with the air turned on!). Don't know about the mechanical secondaries as I haven't tried it (although Sterling swears by it). Emmisions wouldn't add anything other than a car that's 3 lbs lighter and idles better.

If the engine is still stock port, then I would guess a high of 15 HP as a gain even with the smoothed Nikki. As long as the ports are stock in the rotor housings, it's gonna be hard to get noticeable seat-of-the-pants improvements...
