How much heat can this handle

Hey guys, I have a 82 gsl with a 12a, this is a daily driver in cali, so i need all of the smog stuff... anyway, i got a rb header and i installed it with a bonez cat blank (i got flanges from rb so that everything looks legit), so now i'm only slightly illegal. anyway, the black rubber hose coming out from the acv is really close to one of the header pipes, can this hose take the heat? is there anyway for me to fix it? perhaps some heater wrap?

THanks,

Alvin

Header wrap

RB recommends the removal of the smog pump and ACV and to use their block off plate which usually comes with the header to remove the ACV and hoses.
How close is it in inches to the header?

heh, it's about 1/2" from the header, I'll look at this some more, but I can't remove all smog stuff, damn cali law, actually even if the law allows it, i'd have still kept all that stuff, I can't stand a stinky car...

I am using basically the same setup on my GSL. I also took note of how close the hose was to the header so I put some copper couplings over the hose to difuse some of the heat. It has been several years since I did this and as far I now it is still fine (I have not really looked at it recently).

copper couplings? how about some pictures?

sounds like a clever fix

I should of used a copper pipe elbows and a short piece of copper tubing to replace that preformed rubber hose

you could always look into some of that heat wrap stuff they sell at auto stores to finish off your copper project.
