How much fun is it going to be?

My new RB exhaust is coming in later on today, thanks to the old one falling apart. I was wondering how much fun I'm going to have when I put it on while laying on the ground in the driveway, because I'm not allowed to park, what my mother calls it, "that heap" in the garage. I argue her about that, it's further along that the '84 5.0 sitting around. Anyway, back to the topic. Am I going to sound like a truck driver in the process of it, or should it be fairly easy?

If you bought the full system, Then just use a Sawsall to take the old out.

If not. I find that all the bolts will break off. Drill them out and replace with new hardware.

P B Blaster, WD-40 is for people who like to fight getting parts off. If you have trouble, try heat, propane torch etc.

I had no trouble with four jack stands.

I put some penitrating oil on the studs at the manifold, and let it sit while I went to get cut off wheels for the angle grinder (in another vehicle). I used it to cut the bolts appart that hold the OE system together.

I started at the muffler and worked my way to the engin.

I have kept the OE system just incase I need to put it back on.

The Sawsall is a great tool, but you may find it too bulky to use under the car on the ground...

Wear wrap-around plastic saftey glasses. This cuts down on about 75% of the profanity factor.

Use a jack with good rollers to manuver it in place on the other end.

Thanks for the advice. I only have two jack stands...and none of thew jacks get high enough to use the stands at a better height than the lowest. I could always use the stock fender lip crippler that came with the car...

I'm impressed. I think I'm more impressed with the whole 65 pounds of metal.

Don't mind the shiny square thing, that's only my computer.

Just remember to NOT cut the pipe towards the rear axle. Or you will make a trucker blush from the words flying outta your mouth, when you discover you have to re-use it.

Well, my plans came to a screaching halt. I'm not sure of the name of it, but the pipe with the hooks on it. I'll call it the intermediate piece. I need to replace that as well, I thought I could salvage it, but not with the rotted half laying on the ground and the other half still on the car.

This isn't helping me any since lastnight I found out what happens to a Hyundai when it meets a deer. Meh, I need another car, and my FB is nowhere near done.

Grab the 2 halves, and run down to a muffler shop. Maybe they can make a suitable replacement. That was the pipe I mentioned previously.
As for the hooks, if they are still usable, just have them cut off, and weld onto the replacement.
