How much? 1984 GSL-SE

Just curious how much you guru's think it is worth?

84 GSL-SE
54k on original motor
Completely bone stock. Not one single mod.
Brown on brown.(not leather)
Even has the stock radio still.
A/C still blows cold.
No power steering.

The seller is not an enthusiast at all. It was sitting on his lot at a shop. He knows nothing about rotaries at all.

I have driven it, and it runs very well. Pulls all the way until redline. Needs new tires, because the ones on there are starting to dry-rot. Needs new brakes, tune up(just to be safe). And it needs a really good detailing

Body is straight as an arrow, minus ONE dime sized dent on rear passenger 1/4 panel. And the typical rock chips on the front bumper and a few on the hood. The thing still has the little sticker on the outside of the gas cap that says to use unleaded regular octane gas. I thought that was pretty cool.

Just curious to see how much it is worth to you all. I looked at KBB a few weeks ago and it said 1900 in good shape. He wants 2500 for it.

Thanks
Justin

well don't know if this helps but I picked up a 84 GSL-SE with 160k on it. Exterior sounds about similar to mine and all the same options. Mine was running great though and had leather interior.

I picked it up for 1300

I know that there is a few changes but thought that it might help.

It might help people if you can get some pictures...I know that they will ask

Mine has 50,000 miles. Never winter driven, leather, no air, no power steering, no mods. Had some surface rust and was re-painted (badly).

I paid $5200 Cdn.

I'd grab that sucker so fast you'd see nothing but dust.

2500 Bucks? Thats not too far off there. The real determining factor is, how bad do you want it, and can you afford what he is asking for it. Don't always let what other people got their car for. Don't always know the deal they got. The one thing you need to remember is, you are usually going to pay a little more from a car lot than off an idividual.

Oh, it's not on a lot. It's just located at a shop. I do have pictures, but I am at work, I will try to remember to upload them when I get home. I have driven it, it drives VERY nicely!! Just needs a few small things done to it make it ride a little bit smoother. I can afford what he wants, but I am going to go ahead and take 2k cash with me and see if he bites.

Thanks for the replies though, I appreciate it alot!

Overall, I think it sounds like a good deal. Please send me the shop's contact information if you decide to pass.

Before I read the asking price, I was thinking two grand, so $2500 isn't bad. I'm not a big fan of that color, but if it doesn't bother you, then it's a steal.

Typically, the selling price is almost incidental to the ultimate cost of the car. I paid $1200 for mine, but I've put another $2000 in tires, brakes, misc parts, and paint, and I'm nowhere near done.

Oh I won't be passing up this deal. The thing is just clean.

I am not too crazy about the color either, but the car is so mint! I talked to the guy this morning, and he said I can do half now half later. I liked the idea!

And the car will be kept bone stock. I want it to be all original. Just such low mileage. And his son-in-law has another one just sitting in a garage. I will inquire about both of them next time I see him.

2500 is a fair price for it.

I also think it is a fair asking price. Negotiation skills and cash in hand could save a couple hundred easily.

Pay the man, drive an SE. You won't regret it.

Original only lasts so long before you want to start modding. The SE is the perfect platform for that, and the money that you spend now isn't bad, either. The SE's are fairly hard to find in good condition, so I'd just pay his price and be done with it,

Nah, if I wanted to mod, I would buy something with more miles than this one. Thanks for all the input. Hopefully bring it home within a month or two.

And I know how to negotiate. I sell Chrysler's and Jeep's. Hehe.

If that includes all inspections so that you can go to the DMV and plate it without any extra costs, then that's a deal.

The $2500 asking price is that, the way I see it. You should deduct the price of a brake job and new tires and anything else it may need to go SAFELY on the road and another 10% and start dealing!

Have fun!

Oh, forgot to mention it does include MD inspection. Maryland is one of the strictest states for inspection!!! I am sure he would replace the tires, but I should just tell him to deduct about 200 bucks for the tire part and brake part. I don't want OEM brake pads, or craph tires.

Actually, brown on brown cloth is my favorite GSL-SE color combo. Very period-80s looking. It will grow on you. If it doesn't, just think of it as the smallest, fastest UPS truck on the road.

My old RX-7 was a brown on brown leather GSL-SE I bought for $450. Not as nice as the car you're looking at, but not bad at all. I never should have sold it. Now I want another one.

I got my car for 1400$ CDN it barly ran. I barter teh guy down from 1600$. All it neede was a new fuel pump, but I wasted odles of money replacing things that did not need replacing.

Barter the guy down to 2300$ or less, then drive away as quickly as posible before th dude changes his mind.
