Mine had it, but I removed it. It was good when I took it out I think, at least the compressor was anyway.

I don't see that choice on the poll.

Had mine converted when the evaporator went south. Works great in temps up to about 90F. Anything higher, it just makes it tolerable.

I've got 3 cars, which should I list? The 85 blows cold, the blue 83 has a stalled ventillation fan, and I never tried the red 83.

I installed three new O-rings and one of Autozone's 134a retrofit kits last month and it has been working great. Well worth the $30 investment. I sucks quite a bit of power but the AC more than makes up for it on those ninety degree days.

Let's make that "IT sucks quite a bit of power" . I really have to start proof reading these better before I hit the reply button...

Mine didn't work when I got it, but the a/c systems are so simple on these cars that it took about ten minutes of diagnostic work, a new compressor clutch, a couple of 0-rings, and a re-charge to fix....

Mine worked. I was a rACist and ripped it out to dump some weight, better the engine's cooling efficiency, clean up the bay, etc.

when i got the car mine didnt have it.........what do you guys think about installing a custom a/c system using an electric compressor from like a winder air conditioner? since a windor a/c can cool an entire room and our cars are pretty small you would only need a little one. this way you dont have the belts and pulleys putting extra load on the engine and if your really skilled you can setup some solar panels to power it when its parked to keep the car nice and cool for when you get back in

Actually, I used to install air conditioners in homes back in the day, and as hard as it is to believe, car air conditions are actually very powerful. My boss explained it to me once when I was doing that, and if you ever tear down a window, or even a full size central air conditioner, you will see that compressor is actually very small. You see those huge air conditioners setting outside peoples homes? Most of what is inside is open space, nothing there, but the compressor, about the size of a gallon jug, sitting in the bottom of it. And that's on a large unit.

Mine worked for .000058 seconds after I bought the car. Either that, or I tried turning it on in Minnesota in January. I don't know.

I was about to try to chop it out with an axe, when I realized how easily the whole system comes out.
