how many 20b fbs are on the forum

As the title says how many of you guys have done the 20b swap in to the fb Im think about doing it and want to know how they turned out. I was going to do a TII swap but for the money i think im going to go 20b right off the bat and skip the midle man.

Foe those that have done the swap, first whats the best tranni to use stay with the original fb or up grade to fc or fd?

I don't think that there are that many 20b swaps into fbs on this forum. Also, it will probably end up being much more expensive to do the 20b swap. If you have the money and time, I say go for it. If you are just looking for a fast fb without a lot of money and effort I would do the TII swap. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Eventually, I will be.I wouldnt recommend it off the bat though, its quite an undertaking and youll be almost required to go standalone, unless your well versed in rotary engines.
A TII swap can be just as powerful with the right work, and is MUCH easier to do.Lots of guys have done it so theres plenty of people to ask when you need advise.Ive done a S4 and S5 swap in my 84 and it was easy for the most part. The driveability is great and getting parts locally is easy.A 20B swap will leave you with almost no tech support and getting parts is harder. Why am I planning on it?....I guess after almost 5 years,my TII swap feels slow, dated, not original enough......and I love a challenge.

Just be prepared to have your car down for a while if you go 20B.After a bit or research and planning,it took only a week for me to pull my 13B 4port and have the TII in and running.

I had a very detailed look at both the 20B and a triple rotor 12A to go into a FB for my son.

The enginering was complex/expensive, between 80-150%% more cost than a simple TII swap. You certainly will have to change the gearbox, driveshaft, and diff for a start.

Several people have gone 20B but its usually in a track only context with a significant budget. Its rare to just do it for a street car. While Hitman's engine is a 3 rotor 13B rather than a 20B, his website gives good details of what he did to produce a road car.

A good FB streetcar with a TII will produce over 500rwhp and do the 1/4 in the upper 10 second mark. Handling is already marginal at that point, so going for the heavier 20B offers little apart from status. This is why I looked at the far lighter 12A triple rotor option which costed out to around US$22,000. Going for a well set-up 20B came out at $12.000, and a 13B REW at $8,000. There may be some variation on cost depending where you are but the price differentials will not change.

Well I realize that its possible to get a TII motor to make 500hp but its not a very reliable daily driver after doing so. I Have a motor semi lined up for about 5000 ready to go the mounts and trani I figured on. I have a ford 8.8 rear sitting in my garage and have a drive shaft guy lined up should I decide to go this route. AS for the car being down the se has been down since I baught it I have yet to even work on it as its in storage and needs an entire intake befor she'll go any where. So I figure I'll through the 13b 6port that i have into my 82. The motor I looked at is complete exept for alt. and other minor things I have not emediate plans to rework the motor befor the install and will keep it in its original roughly 400-450hp state.
I have done some research reading many of the posts in the 20b section but for the most part they are not FB swaps. I read up on hitmans 13b 3 rotor and im very impressed with it and learned that thats way out of my class right now. The fabrication part of the build will be completed mostly by my self and a friend that works in a machine shop.
The major thing is not statice it more to be a little different many people have already done a TII swap. and it fairly comon. I have for the most part made up my mind but the time frame and the other nessisary extras are still on the block.

Steve- Out of interest should we be generally calling it a TII swop which really refered to the s4 13B turbo engined car. Many of the engines bring exported from Japan were not originally in RX-7s and some are from Gen 3s. While the 12A turboed 83-85 Cosmos were badged Rotary Turbo, from memory, the later 13B turboed cars were not badged as Turbo II.
