I'll get pictures of everything up tomorrow night sometime. Some key things to note now is that the center muffler is supported at 2 points now and it actually right off the muffler. This will take quite a bit of load off the headers and also a good way to support the center section. The back one is supported by a full beam that hangs both sides along with the back side.

One problem that I've had before is that when the hangers were just welded at one point as oppose to having a few inches on the muffler body, it tends to rip off the body as its just sheet metal. So all these have atleast 2" or rod welded right on the body from each hanger.

The only one thing that I wasn't too happy about is where they located my O2 bung, it pretty much at the end of the collector. I told them to put it a little futher down, but i guess they didn't listen.

well the car definatly has alot more mid range power now. From 3500-6000 is the most notable now and thats without any tuning done yet. I'm still battling fuel issues so I can't do much till I get a new in tank fuel filter.

The muffler is still louder than I had expected, but just means I have to make some silencers. They're almost done so we'll see how good this new funky silencer design will work out. I'll post some pictures of it tomorrow once I get the ends expanded. I bought a tool to do it and broke the tool. Not Cool.

Well as promised, here's the pictures. As you can tell the mid muffler wasn't mounted on it yet because the gaskets that I had were the wrong ones so we waited around for the new ones. Let me know what you guys think!

well got the decibel read out of the new system:

Without the Tips: ~117
With the new tips: ~109

Atleast i'm still in the right direction, even though the new silecender tips flow more than the old ones, it's still quieter by almost 1/2 the sound of previous. You guys will love these silencers, spent about 4 hours making them lol.

One really notable thing though is how quiet inside the car is. All i can say is that I'm hearing things that I've never heard before lol. Like I can hear my ITB's sucking in the air and it sounds like a supercharger lol. The sound doesn't seem to kick on till around 2500rpm though. Before cruising around town I was getting about 110 decibels, now I'm around 92 decibels!!! Thats about 1/6 the sound inside the car. Both of these number was old vs new with silencers on

Looks good, aside from the weird over axle part. I'm planning to pull my engine in about 2 weeks when I get back from my next trip, you should come over and watch.

Well finally had some time to take pictures of the muffler tips that I made. Took me 3 cut and grinds to get the profile on the tubing right, not bad for just visually looking at it Let me know what you guys think of them, I think that I'm starting a new style lol.

Is that in a good way or a bad way lol ... I hope good. I've always wanted a dump pipe but still retained the dual out of the muffler to make things look in place better than just a single out. Its definatly getting quite a bit of attention on the streets

Anyways the right pipe doesn't have a full opening to the second pipe. It only has two 3/4" holes that go into the other side. The mesh piece on the inside is a leftover piece from my perforated tubing that I just flattened out and used. There is also a piece of stainless steel wool in there to block a bit more air and help with the muffling.

Lastly another comparison for decibel level, the inside of my dad's civic is about 90 decibels, on acceleration it peaks at 94 decibels according to my meter, so I'm not that far off of being really quiet inside the car now.

Interesting.

I'm a little lost as a muffler cost about $45 (at least that is what I paid for Mine), and I know you spent more than that in materials. I guess for origanality, cost is no limit. Just seems like there are better things to spend time an money on--unless you have done everyting else possible to your car nd are just really bored.

Good workmanship though!

You normally get what you pay for, this might last 3-4 times longer than normal mufflers and atleast i know the inside of it is all legit as far being up to temperature.

As far as money spending on my car goes its been looked all round. From standalone ecu, to individual throttle bodies, to bigger brakes, custom interior, coil overs and 5 way adjustable shocks soon to be installed (currently has tokico blues and eibachs), rack and pinion, after market sway bars, carputer, porting on the engine, custom tires, semi slicks, lightweight flywheel ... lol you get the pictures so maybe i'm just doing some fine tuning to the car now

I meant that in a good way. Glad it's quiet. Does it flow enough? Can your engine run it out of breath?

When I have the silencer tips on (even with the old ones which were more restrictive) I don't normally rev it past 4000rpm, I'm pretty sure it will be pretty restrictive in the top end but I don't need to go up past that daily driving. Looking at EGT's with and without them on I do see about 100 degrees difference (increase with the tips) but thats at highway driving.

Also now on the highway i can hear more tire, wind, and transmition wine than exhaust lol.

They are silencers, or noise reducers would be more accurate. They lower noise volume by reducing the amount of exhaust gas that exits through them, so your right, they do hurt flow but by design.

Where are the sound clips, we want to hear this thing.

Its exactly like Orion worded it, they're not meant by any means to be a performance thing, just for keeping the neighbors and my passengers happy.

I keep on forgetting about the sound clips. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get something going.

I can testify to the awesomeness of that exhaust. It sounds great, and the silencer does a surprisingly good job of cutting the noise in the cabin down to a bearable level. Without it one would have to yell to speak to the other. With it on you can actually have a civilized conversation. When I replace my RB exhaust, My muffler will be a dj55b unit.

Oh yeah, hey Sam, mind building me a muffler in a year or two? Thanks bud.
