well here the pictures of where I'm at with the back one. Not bad of a job if I might say. I should hopefully be finishing it up sometime this week.

Here's a couple shots of the flanges that I also welded up on the other muffler. These are from Vibrant, 3/8" thick 304 stainless. As you can see I welded front and back just incase.

Can you get a nut and bolt on your flange?

It's tight but yes, to make my life easier i might make some special washer with a cut on there to clear the weld area . I wanted to package it as tight as possible and that's the outcome of things like that.

And finally all done with the back one. Total weight is about 19.8lb, so definatly not the lightest thing out there but should be really durable. Here's the pictures of it:

well its all set to go now. Next wednesday I've booked some time at a shop to have it all put together. This time it will all be mandrel bent tubing and all TIG welded and I'll be supervising the whole thing closely. I would do it myself but for me to do it would take alot longer without a hoist, and since this is my daily driver time is always of the essense with it.

Forgot to mention that trying to scream into the back one defintaly takes out quite a bit of sound. (kids don't try this at home, your lungs could hurt trying to replicate a rotary engine by mounth lol)

I always keep up with my video uploading and should also be able to do a decible test of before and after.

That is beautiful! I gotta say if my little 4" round, 3" core Magnaflow doesn't muffle enough, I'm doing something like that.

Well took some decibel numbers of the system that is on the car now and the read outs are as follow:

Without the silencer: ~116.5 decibel
With the silencer: ~112.5 decibels

Considering every 3 decibels is half the noise, thats not bad for just some home made silencers.

I'm hoping to be under 110 decibels after the new stuff ... that might be optimistic, but even if i can reach to about the same level as with the silencers I'll be happy. I'm still going to make some fancy silencers.

The car did go in the shop today, and i hacked up all the old stuff, i'll post up pictures later.

Just for reference, here's a couple numbers from my rental (a toyota Yaris), and my dad's car (02 civic)

Yaris: ~ 85 Decibel
Civic: ~88 Decibel

These are both stock cars, that are pretty much ultra quiet to my standards. I think if I got something with a V8 stock of some sort, or something that had a mild exhaust on there, it would be about mid 90's in decibel.

I think if nothing else, your car will definantly appreciate the new exhaust. I never really care about sound levels, but your setup looks like it should be tollerable

I personaly don't care too much most of the time neither, but the neighbourghs do. The only time it can get to me is on long trips, like I did last year going down to florida. But thats about it.

Anyways today everything got pretty much tacked on, tomorrow everything will be coming apart to be purged and welded, here's a little teaser though

How did you do the sound level testing? Was this at idle?

The sound test is at idle, and it was done through my phone. It may not be the most accurate thing, but as reference from the same device, it will work just fine.

Sam, I'm concerned about how the underbody is holding up. Is the coating peeling off? Is there a car wash that your car will clear that does the underbody wash? All that salt residue appears to be causing more damage than I ever expected.

I dont think its really the salt hurting it, but rather the high exhaust temperatures.

Ya I really hope so, I can't just quite jump on the dyno yet though to see power difference because I still need to retune the engine on the street first and also i need to change my water pump that is wobbling at the pulley, but hopefully within a couple of weeks ill be on there.
