How low can you go?

Yesterday, some ricer friends of the assistant manager came intot he shop to work on their cars. Problem was they couldn't get their car on the pneumatic lifts cause they were so low.

I don't want this to happen with my RX-7, however I'm thinking of getting an Air Dam, springs, and wheels.

I'm thinking Eibach (Only brand I know, any other suggestions?)

And I'm thinking the Ebruni #357 kit.

Wheels, I'll go with ROH Snypers, unless I swap out my parts for SE bolt pattersn, then I dunno if they make Snypers in that apttern

I don't wanna be trashing air dams...

Anyone have something similar that they can say yea or nay to lifts. (Or speed bumps or the stock jack, cause you never know what you're gonan run over.)

you really can't go TOO low with 1st gens, a lot of racers have problems with going too low, it really upsets the balance if you don't do it properly.. not sure exactly what the problem is though..

My Suspension Techniques drop my GS about an inch maybe a hair more and I have not had any problems. I have to be careful going over speed bumps or my exhaust will scrape. My old floor jack did not fit under the car but my new one does....

My 85 is stock height and I have to be pretty careful about hitting my presilencers over speed bumps. I have to cross them at an angle just to be sure. I have a few good scratches where my header meets the presilencer.

I don't have my RX-7 to look at right now, but could anyone tell me where the hangers on the exhaust system on an 84/85 12A engined car are?

If there are none between the rear end and engine, would adding one help raise the system?

Million and one uses for a coathanger. Did it on my Honda when I had to remove the exhaust to get at the alternator and had to drive to the parts store, but didn't wanna reassemble or disassemble any more.

Open headered Honda... Ricer's dream

Theres a hanger in the middle. With the Street Port exhaust, there is no room to raise it up. I had to remove my heat shields to even get the presilencers on. I scraped the **** out of them before I even lowered the car. Its been sitting for months with new suspension and the air dam. I'll almost be afraid to drive it when it runs again.

Damnit.

Looks like I'll have to avoid parking lots with speed bumps and use the jack.

And I wanted to get a hydraulic lift for my garage, specifically for the 7 too.

On a sidethought, I wonder if my car is already lowered. I have no clue if the springs have EVER been replaced with stock or aftermarket. She's had several previous drivers.

An inch drop spring might raise me some.

I already tore the bottom heat shield off the catalytic converter on a speedbump.

I have to use 2 jacks to jack my cars up. A cheapass $20 floor jack will fit to raise it up high enough for the big Craftsman floor jack to fit underneath.

Fahget abbouditt. Bring a set of 2"x6"s with you in the back when you need to put it on a lift. Makes a handy little ramp.

And yes, slow way down and attack ramps and driveway skirts with caustion and at an angle when possible...

I usually back into my driveway or parking spaces.

At it's current height, it fits well on jacks and on lifts. I really think they're stock springs as I didn't see any markings on them. Probably originals.
