How loud will my exhaust setup be?

This is on my 79. I have I think inch and three quarter headers into a two and a quarter inch exhaust that has two cherry bombs inline, and right before the differential, it goes right into the stock quarter pipe and muffler. I know that that setup is fairly quiet, but I feel that I am losing a lot of power. So what I want to do is cut the stock part of the exhaust at the differential and continue with the two and a quarter inch exhaust into a good two and a quarter inch muffler, will this be overly loud, or just right. I would like a nice rumble at idle and a performance sound up top. I am sick of my dad asking me if I need more trimmer line. Thanks guys.

It won't be annoyingly loud until the rotary exhaust heat destroys the glasspack material in the cherry bombs...then , you'll basically have a straight pipe until the back muffler and that will be very loud...if the cherrybombs are brand new, I'd give 'em 5 months or so before they're crap...

i run a racing beat header with the small presilencer into a 2.25" straight pipe then into a dtm
the dtm "dual tip muffler" has a straight through design itself

the sound is not loud at all,
i wouldnt ever imagine getting pulled over for it and the cops here are strict,

its not as loud as most hondas around,

it has a pleasant low tone at idle and a really high pitch tone at wot

but its a rotary it will always have a distint sound,

my cousin doesnt know **** about the cars and could care less about them but the other day he said
"man i thought i heard your car coming down the street a couple times but then i noticed it was another guy with the same kinda car"

we dont hang out or anything like that so he doesnt hear my car that often but just goes to show how distint the sound is

if all of us members hear on the board got togehter with our 1st gens you would find they all sound alike in a way

mostly in the upper rpm band

They have been on there for a while I guess, but I am not sure if they are cherry bombs or what, they have that shape to them.

I have a boss turbo atached to the stock manifold. then it just dumps out underneith the car.
That boss turbo mufler lasted about a week at most. The packing is totally burned out. Its way loud but it sounds cool on the inside. Horrible on the outside.

I just know that the performance is hindered by the stock muffler. I want something that sounds nice, but not too loud. A friend of mine had an exhaust leak on his 2nd gen, he did a burnout, and I nearly went deaf. I don't want that. Whats under there now looks good enough to be a name brand system, but I know it is not.
