how loud is it if.......

has anyone replaced the cat. convertor replacement pipe from Racing Beat, but kept everything else the same? The fitting that was welded to my convertor for the backpressure thingy for the 6-port actuator has broke off. I don't want to spend the bucks for a new convertor and it seemed to be a good buy. If so, is the exhaust sound going to get unbearable loud or should I get their muffler too?

It is loud, but your car still has two bricks in it unless you have removed them so it is still not as loud as a straight pipe with a muffler. It isn't unbearable.

"unbearably loud" is in the ears of the beholder.

I don't see that being loud really. My car came with a header with a 3inch pipe all the way back to just a 5inch exhaust tip from autozone. That was fricking loud and the guy drove it all the time like that with no tickets!I couldn't stand it.

good grief 3" all the way back to a 5" tip?! i think it all depends also on the muffler that u have attached to it....because i have all the cat's on an an aftermarket muffler that the guy before me put on there an that thing is louder than a straight piped 7

A friend of mine is running the RB cat replacement pipe with the stock muffler on his SE and I can tell you that it is not very loud, although with the stock muffler it does have a tinny kind of exhaust sound to it.. no biggie at all

I have the racing beat street pipe with no cats and some lame Midas Muffler. I have twin webers and it sounds sweet. But, there are rednecks around me with loud pipes on there pickups that are just as loud. So I don't sweat it.

My exhaust is not fully connected I believe at the exhaust ports. The muffler is cosmetic...rusted off the connection. I've got a bad apex seal as well now.

I set off a car alarm driving home from work, it's happened before I lost the apex seal too though.

I've got old school header>presilencer>stock connecting pipe>shitty monza catback.

Not very loud at all really. Even with just the headers and presilencer, it's not that bad. It's loud, but not to the point where you'll be deaf from driving around.

My car will set off car alarms in parking garages, but it isn't so loud that it sets off car alarms just driving around normally. I'm sure if I passed a parked car at WOT, it might go off, I dunno though.

i have the racing beat header with the cat and the muffler. it is pretty loud cause i hollowed out my cat. it gave me more power. i guess thats why i got pulled over by the state patrol. good thing he gave me a warning.

My setup is the RB replacement pipe straight through to an RB muffler. It sounds like a tractor without a presilencer, but it is much cheaper than the alternative.

A VERY tinny sound. Like I said - a tractor, or a chainsaw.

Unless you accelerate hard. In that case I think it sounds like raw rotary power, and there ain't nothin wrong with that, son.

Take a listen to my exhaust.

That's a RB header/mini presilencer to a 2.25 inlet Magnaflow single in dual out muffler. It's loud when accelerating hard, but at cruise or light accel it's not bad. The drone does get a little loud on the highway.

I would say that a stock manifold back to the stock canister would probably be not as loud as my setup, but infinately more tinny and gross sounding. I should know, I had the header/presilencer connected to my stock canister for a year. It sounded just like an outboard motor before the switch to the Magnaflow.

This is what my 12a bridgeport sounds like: Idling in the garage . You'll have to turn your sound up coz I used a **** mic. I recorded it too show some mates what it sounds like at idle

I love exhaust threads... Still trying to decide what to do with my 83 SE when I get done with the 13b swap...

My 85 gsl has stock manifold, with a custom made 3" pipe going all the way back to the muff. Muff is a cheap *** piece of **** "generic" muff.

Sounds like a BEAST!

Imagine the sound of two old school harleys, side by side, doing 60... THAT's how loud my setup is on the highway! Around town, it's no louder than the ricers, but has more the rumble and spitting you'd expect from a harley.

Oh yea!
