How long will a GSL rear end last?

I’m looking at an 82 GSL with 220k miles on it. What is the chance that the LSD in it is still working? (I don’t have access to the car and it isn’t running so I can’t really test it)

And are these rear ends rebuildable?

Thanks,
Jason

The rear ends are rebuildable, so if the car is in good shape and the price is right, grab the car. I would imagine that the LSD would be fairly loose at 220k miles.

Approximately how much money/time goes into a rebuild?

Am I correct to assume there is a kit I can buy?

Thanks,
Jason

There is no kit to buy but Mazda can get you most of the parts. I understand that there is at least one part (#27265 pressure ring?) that is no longer available. This may have to be rebuilt from your core. If you pull the third member yourself and bring it to a mechanic that does this kind of work it should coast about $120 in parts and $250 in labor.
