How interchangeable are rx7s??

I just got 2 FBs. One is a 85gl and the other a 81gls. My question is. Will the parts from the 81gls bolt into the 85gl. Tranny, LSD, driveline, ect. It makes sence that it would but I thought I would ask befor I start ripping parts off.

81 GLS's are extremely rare builds... in fact, I don't think Mazda made more than, oh, none. Which is 500 more than they made of 85 GL's.

Thinking you mean a GSL? And a GS?

Check out some of the FAQ resources in this forum, they will help you tons (especially the factory manual and parts lists links, and the archives). There are a lot of parts that will interchange directly, and many that will not. Way too many to list here. Plus that way you don't have to wait for people to answer.

The only thing that will really tell you which parts interchange is the parts fiche. Short answer to the parts you listed, complete rear end with drive shaft, yes, axles, diff and driveshaft will not interchange individually. Tranny, yes.

hopefully you're trying to go from 85 to 81. as far as drive train the 85 is a bit bigger so it can handle a bit more power. if power is your goal.
