Question how important is gasket sealer/grease?

hey guys..

first of.. i luv my new weber 48IDA..

beautiful ..

anyways..

i got a spanking new shiny k&n filter assembly to go on top of it..

it came with everything.. including the gasket which goes between the weber and the filter base..

only problem is.. i need to put heavy grease or gasket sealer on the gasket so it sticks on the weber..

i didnt have sum.. so i just put em between and bolted it up..

its pretty tight.. i dont think anything will get between in there.. but since im a n00b.. i might just ask u pros out there how important it is to put grease/gasket sealer in the gasket..

will it greatly affect the car? ill eventually put in that grease or gasket sealer when i get the chance to buy sum...
but for now im running it without any..

though i dont think it will affect the car much as its really tight anyways..

but yeh.. just makin sure..

(oh and the weber whistled today when i gunned it during a stop light run.. probably the k&n filter doing?.. hmm...it wasnt even floored.. i feel so much faster with the weber on.. )

It's not critical at all as it's not under vacuum or anything like that. I ran mine without the gasket.
