to remove the sleeves you will need to remove the lower intake manifold, or you could remove the actuators and wire the sleeve shafts in the open position. If you still have your cat you will not want to remove your air pump as it will clog quickly. The best thing to do would be get a Mazdatrix exhaust that can be used with the actuators and put in pineapple racings six port sleeves and then go 5.0 hunting. Stay away from the modded ones. There's a turbo 4.6 here in texas that is just killer.

cat is long gone... how much are the pineapple sleeves, and how quick to install? I have to massage this car a bit - goal - snipe a (crank) 225hp 88 'stang. that means i need a minimum 170hp with the weight reductions i've already done.. i got me a k+n filter, new plugs, etc.. need header, 2.5 exh, and lack of hp robbing pumps/ and the help of my 5/6th ports.

I think rob sells his sleeves for $50 or so, but as I said you need to remove the lower intake manifold to replace them.

Also remember that your biggest restriction in your intake path is the AFM. It is tiny. It will be your biggest hinderance to HP.

To get those ports moving again, get some liquid wrench lubrifying spray and shoot the hell out of them.

work the piston of the actuators to make the sleeves rotate continue this procedure until you can push them down with your hands, and the valves go back up to the closed poition by themselves. If this does not work, then you will have to take the lower manifold off and lube them by the inside.

Your ports were probably not opening because you have no more cat, there is a quick fix to this problem, there are other more expensive methods to wire them to work but this is what I did.
