How fast over the speed limit do you go?
I vary my law-breaking depending on the road.
On highways, I generally do 70-75mph.
In city, I do 5 over.
On rural back roads, I do 5-10 over.
This system has served me well, with no tickets in 11 years.

Typically 5 over or so, but im also a first time rx driver and my right foot seems to be getting heavier. Or maybe my right leg got longer.

I generally stay right around the speed limit. Occasionaly I'll catch myself doing aroun 5 over. As I said, I normally don't speed, but quite often the speed limit comes pretty fast.
Around town I'm usually not doing anything less than 40, unless it's a school or hospital zone.
I just feel like my car is hurting when I go under 40. Actually, it tends to studder at slower speeds no matter what gear I'm in. Oh well, I have a radar detector (and keen observation skills, as far as safety is concerned) for a reason.
On the freeway, I usually go around 80 ish.
BTW, Ian, you drive like a granny

I run certain roads at or around speed limit, but on the highway I runn what ever the general flow of trafic is doing. It also depends on weather im on the clock or not, I get paid by the hour. But in genral I hit atleast 60 in a 40 almost every day on the road that passes my home.
I keep to the speed limit, its there for a purpose. If you want to speed go to an open track day and have fun.
A few days in an emergency theatre trying to put shattered bones together soon sorts out your opinion of speed and drinking. While I am in a preacher mood, lets not knock the police they do a difficult job on low pay, they have to do one job I would hate- going to a house and telling the wife their husband has been killed in a car crash.
I note the voting poll mostly gives high speeds while the posts mainly say they keep to the speed limit, perhaps those who frequently break the limit have writing difficulties.

Most of the time, I tend to keep it at around the posted limit. I rarely exceed the limit while in heavy traffic, however, I will admit to opening it up a bit on a deserted streach of highway on occasion.
At least here in Ok, if you are willing to pay tolls, there are several roads with 75MPH speed limit, which makes it seem as though you are speeding, even when you aren't.
I agree that racing belongs on the track, not on the street.

Way I see it, the speed limit applies to the general cell phone carrying soccor mom who can't pay attention to the road for ****.
Sure, I've been in my fair share of accidents, but only one of them was my fault in any way (more of a nuetral thing, slid my 64 GTO into a drifting white FB. . . . about a block away from the sheriff station. . . . . that was not pretty). Having been IN the emergency ward, I can say that I have nothing against going the speed your foot feels like going. . . . as long as you can keep up with it.

Oh, forgot to add, the local road course offers track days to any street legal car that will pass a simple safety check. Total cost is less than a speeding ticket, in most cases. As they like to call it, "A pre-paid speeding ticket, that does not add points to your lisence"

major 4 or more lane roads i usually do 10 over. the 35mph areas i go no more than 40, but get me on the freeway where it's 70mph and i'll stretch my right leg out till i come up to traffic.
I drive the speed limit when in traffic or on residential streets or in business districts. But if there's no cars or pedestrians for a large distance, I go as fast as I want to. I know it's irresponsible (or at least someone will jump on a soapbox and tell me it is), but I just don't care.

When you see how fast and how bad you can get killed or severly injured..it makes you think twice. Everytime I hit 20 miles over I always think of a wreck a year ago where I was first on scene and how bad of shape everyone was in. Thatll make you slow down real fast!
Dont get me wrong Im not condoning speeding...Speeding is part of my job on a daily basis...Hell...you have to really be driving reckless to even get a speeding utc from me. All Im saying is..when you do speed...pay attention and consider your surroundings...(IE traffic, road condition, the bus full of toddlers that just passed etc etc)
