How fast have YOU been on the factory rear?

This is in reference to 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile.

It would be great if you could also post your 60ft times, WHP, and weight of the car. Also what you did (if anything) to the factory rear.

Stock everything on a '79 rx7.
118mph on a highway, maxed the car out with what I can do.
I've heard 125 is possible for a '79 but you will need a little more power than what I've got. lol
I'm not sure if I can go any faster.

At the track I trapped a 121mph with stock GSL-SE rear, did not launch the car.
It was just once and I dont think it would take to many of those pulls down the 1/4 mile.
This was back in 2008-2009 time frame.
If your making serious power than the rear won't last unless it's babied around.
Stock GSL-SE weight, 60ft was like 2.3, unsure about the hp guessing around 370rwhp

I should have been more specific. I am only really Interested in drag racing times. Highway MPH does not indicate strength or durability.

I ask because my Rx2 has an SE rear. I'm debating if it's worth it to get the Moser axles and do some work to it vs. upgrade it. It's not a strict drag car. But I do enjoy the drag strip over other activities.

yes the axels are weak link and will snap on hard launches. i was doing low 8 1/8 mile times with lots of wheel spin on launch.

sub'd

current build is a 1980 with a SBC about 4-425 hp estimate.

running a T-5 (V8-WC), lightened flywheel and alum driveshaft and 245 wide rears.
rear end is an 84 GSL with Mosler axles.

yeah, I know i'm pushing it, but I dont' plan on beating/launching on it either.

am curious as to what she'll hold so i don't get too cocky. (I have heard the stock 84/85 rear is good for 375 hp)

when i ordered from mosler...and i sent them my axle to measure, the shop guy said they basically use the same axle as a chevy 10 bolt rear end, trimmed a bit of coarse.

but thats a pretty stout rear end.

also keep in mind the higher the gear the easier it is on the rear end and transmission. i.e. a 4.11 gear isn't going to stress the drivetrain as much to get going as a 3.09 or something.
