How far can you push your pintle caps on??

Like the subject says, I can only slide the pintle caps onto my 84 SE injectors partially...still about an 1/8" or so from the end of the injedctor to the top of the pintle cap.

I'm worried the fuel might be obstructed by the hole in the pintle cap...

Anyone have experience?

Right on.

Push Harder .

Actually, the way this picture looks to me, it almost looks like that cap wouldnt go all the way on anyway. Like the end of the injector wont "bottom out" in the pintle cap because its too short. There would be a small overhang of the cap off the end of the injector anyway. If that makes sense. Hell, I dont know what my point was now...

Mine go on all the way, sliding at first then snapping on the last bit after a firm push. The tip of the injector ends up just shy of the hole in the cap. I wouldn't leave them that far off, for the reason you mentioned.

Is that cap for a GSL-SE injector.... it looks a little big... even if you get the 1/8 inch gap pushed in... it looks a little big....

I guess I have to push harder, but man I pushed damn hard...I even soaked them in hot water, tried a little WD-40...I ordered them from Mazdatrix and the guy said they are the right ones for the SE.

I figured the inner "ridge" on the cap needs to slide past the "bump-out" on the injector so that it can "snap" into place as you described. But when I push harder the pintle cap just compresses.

So is the little "needle" at the end of injector enclosed within the pintle cap, or does it peek out?

Maybe I'll heat them in the microwave a little bit, LOL.

Right on.

Hot water sounds like a good idea; I'm surprised it didn't work. E-mail Mazdatrix and see if there's some trick to it?
Maybe a sharp tap on to a relatively hard surface (piece of wood), instead of firm but gentle pushing? Of course, that may result in a bunch of little pintle caps bits...

The end of the "needle" of the injector is what I meant when I said "tip". It is, indeed, enclosed within the pintle cap. What I was getting at when I said "The tip of the injector ends up just shy of the hole in the cap" is that the tip of the "needle" is almost flush with the inner surface of the pintle cap. That is, if there was no hole, it would almost touch.
Hope you get what I'm getting at.

The hot water trick was Mazdatrix's suggestion!

I got em on...what I did was get an X-actio knife and shave down the "ridge" inside the pintle cap. That's what was keeping them from sliding the extra 1/8" or so. I didn't shave it completely, so they still "snapped" into place, and I still had to push hard to get them to do so.

Thanks for the help...I was puzzled on this one.

Right on.
