how far can i tighten the sector shaft?

the slot screw on top of the sterering box is the sector shaft, right?

all i do is loosen the small nut, tighten the screw, and i will magically fix my sloppy steering?

about how much can i tighten it? 1/4 turn? 2 or three turns? more?

i just need it to last a few days so i can sell the car.

once it goes back out of adjustment(which im told it likely will), can i just keep tightening it more?

what kind of oil should i fill the box with?

thank you!

The problem with tightening the sector shaft to compensate for steering box wear is that it is easy to put the shaft in a bind, which will accelerate the wear even more. If you have to turn it more than about 1 full turn, the box is probably too worn. The internal components of Mazda steering boxes (including Ford Courier) are notoriously soft. Your remark about it only needing to last long enough to sell the car troubles me, though.

Yes, morally. It sounded like you didn't care if you screwed someone over. Thanks for clarifying.
