how does it feel to drive a FC???

I mean I got a FB 85 GSL-SE... and its tiny... I'm thinking of getting a FC just to see how it is... and give it to my lil sis... and work on it too... but the FC's are bigger and for the weight to power ratio... doesn't seem to be all that powerful... I love the size of the FB... but is the FC cockpit a big difference... I've never driven one...

I used to have a white '90 GXL, along with my '84 GSL. It came down to parting with one of the two, and I couldn't let the Fb go.

Basically the FC is quieter, smoother, more responsive. And numb.

Speaking of the cockpit, yes the FC is much improved, esp. in the series V w/ the shorter shift throw and higher redline.

The FC is a different car from the Fb. Hard to say if it's better or worse, just different.

The FC is alot better than the FB...not that the FB is bad, but the FC is a great car. If you get one you won't be disapointed!

The fb gives me a much more confident feeling while driving it than the fc does, though the fc is an improved car all around (stereo, ride, brakes, a/c system)...

I agree. I recently picked up a 2nd gen base model for $500. It was just flooded. I spent an additional $600 for a set of used rim/tires, tokicos (from junkyard car) and clutch etc etc. Great handling but again, its not fast since its all stock with gutted cat. I made it my daily driver instead of the RX-3 and the FB

Going down hill.... My GSL-SE handles it like its a flat road.... I like the FB for how it handles and its power to weight ratio.... I drive my moms 2000 pathfinder and my dad's 1994 QUEST... and when going down hill... it feels like I need to slow down.... feels like its not going to handle it... Is this how you would feel in a FC if you were going down hill??? cuz of its size...

2ed gens have wierd turn signal levers, are bigger, longer, taller, a 1st gen is like a go-kart. and can run circles around a 2ed gen. twistys,,,,

I found that my FB can't take a corner like my FB could.

I took a 90 degree corner last year in my FC at 60 mph, and this year I tried it with my FC and the back end came around to meet me...could have been the tires!

The FC I drove had great steering (I wonder why) and handling, but it still felt heavy through corners compared to my FB.

FC's are fun to drive. But like everybody says, FB's have a "seat of the pants", "cockpit", feel that none of the other cars have.

well switching between the 2 rx7 my family owns i can say this

fb: small and ninble feel, also get a sense of speed better, plus gets a lot of looks, also have that cockpit feeling, and also lower

fc: better sounding, less sense of speed, bulkier feeling in turns, good smooth ride (but then again i havent gotten to it modding it yet ) does have a kick to it though

if i had to part with one, it would be the FC, the FB is too much fun (espically when i get around to a engine swap)

IMO, 1st gen is hands down a better looking car - almost to the point of being a classic. The FC reminds me too much of other cars on the road - not that it's bad, just not unique. Also, the 1st gen stands out in a crowd and will get a lot more looks. I won't even get into the handling and feel of this little car compared to the heavier / bulkier 2nd gen - this is, of course, the humblest of opinions, and is not meant to lend offence to any FC owners browsing this forum

Why not put a S5 engine/R&P steering in a FB, and then you'll get almost the best of both worlds.

At least that's what I plan to do.

Sitting in the FC reminds me to much of my old ford probe eww... But I still kind of want a TII heh. I got beat by a FC at a open track. The 4 wheel disk, IRS, LSD, and the FC steering were too much for the beat up LE heh.

The 1st gen was designed around the 12a. or designed
for it. where they placed the engine, down and back low
in the car is why it handles 48/50 ? the 2ed gens theres
too much car weight vs engine weight. the designers tryed and tryed and came up with what we've got.

I agree. The FC's looks are more modern, but not classic by any stretch of the imagination. One could argue that the bloated bland looks of the FC are anti-aging(Honda like), but that is another topic entirely. From 1/4 mile away, you can pick out an SA or FB, but you really need to look to pick out FCs at even just across the parking lot.

I'd get an FC for a daily driver. My friend has a 10th aniv. TII and I've never been in such a nice interior in my life. The FC Leather interior is sooooo nice. I'd get the car for that reason alone.

For a race car though I'd get the FB. Fot the price difference you can fix the few FB problems and still end up with a better car in the end. For a pimpy street car, FC all the way.

The interior of the '84-'85s sold in the US kicks ***! Way better ergos, cooler looking-still looks modern today. I'll never get sick of it. And lit up at night? Whoo-hoo!
