how do I test for spark?

I'm starting to think my timing problem is actually a dead wire or coil.
How do I go about testing for spark?
Thanks
Joe

If you dont have a timing light, stick a screwdriver in the plug wire end and lay it on the shock tower nuts. Turn the car over and watch for arcing.

Just pull the coil wire off, lick your finger, hold your moist finger about an inch from the coil's business end and have a buddy turn her over! (just kidding) unplug one of your wires from a plug and hold it close to something metal (dipstick, alternator) and turn the engine over, it sould arch. Jason
