well,,from what it looks like in the manual..there's a bolt at the knuckle(the joint)..remove that..and two under the dash..remove those..you will have to disconnect the ignition switch ...so be safe and disconnect the battery before you do anything..should be able to pull it off..if there is more someone will chime in..

To remove the shaft youd have to remove the box. Very difficult. You should be able to get the pedal assembly out without removing the steering column. Ive done it. Theres the 2 bolts that hold it up to the dash, once those are removed it should drop down enough for you to get the pedals out.

absolutely right VERY DIFFICULT and time consuming.
There are 6 bolts on the column under the dash and 3 blots that hold the box to the frame on the drivers side. Once the bolts under the dash are out you have to pull the black covering off to expose the true steering shaft under it. You will also have to remove the radiator and front mount oil cooler (if you have one) as well as the a/c condenser & front lower grill in the bumper. Once everthing is out of the way the box and steering shaft slide out the front of the car thru the area of everything you have just removed. I have personally done this 3 times already and hated every minute of it. LOL

No dont do that. Pull the outer tube off, then seperate the collapsible part of the shaft if you must remove it.
