Question how come no one makes this yet?

some form of adaption kit for using late model 13bs in the first gen chassis. obviously everyone knows you can use the GSLSE front cover, oil pan and bracket, but GSLSE's are not going to be around forever to do that with.

so there has to be a way to use the later 13b in a first gen and make it a kit. i mean. hell, they make v8 kits. why not rotary kits? i think i have some designing to do...

Because you dont need a kit. Just the crossmember from a gslse, which is also available from RB. And it drops right in.

my point was that GSLSE crossmembers wont be easy to get for ever. its like trying to get a bellhousing from a Rx3.

but i didnt know that racing beat sold them. or they reproductions?

additionally, i was under the impression you also needed the front cover seeing that is where the crossmember mounted and the standard s4 and later 13b front cover does not have a provision to do that.

i thought you just bought a new oil pan from mazda, they are like $80, new and then the rb crossmember, that they've had in the catalog for a quarter century, and thats it. if you really want to use the s4 style metering pump then you need the gsl-se front cover instead of a 12a one, but you can get those new too, still.

The differences in the engine mounts is to accomodate the differences in the steering configuration between the 1st and 2nd gens. A kit made for a 2nd gen engine using the center iron mounts would require a 2nd gen steering install also.

We are in development on something very similar to what you are speaking of. The provisions for a center iron engine mount could be a possibility, though not currently on the prototype. I have not really seen a shortage of front mount style front covers.

Tell you what I'd like to see. A shorter version of the Pitman arm, to increase the steering ratio...
