Which o-rings are you talking about? There's quite a few of them. The ones under the beehive oil cooler? The o-rings in the intake manifold? Let us know where the o-rings are and we will be able to help you better.

Did you read the link provided?

You don't have to pull the engine to answer your question.

If you are leaking coolant on that side then check the 2 coolant hoses that go to the throttle body. 1 goes from the back of the water pump housing and runs in between the throttle body and upper intake manifold to the T/body nipple. The other one runs from top of the rear iron of the engine to the t/body nipple.

This would probably be a good time for you to describe your car: year, model, build, engine setup, mods if any...

When you said you have a 13B, that led Doc to assume you have a GSL-SE, in which the engine setup is very different as it's fuel-injected. But if you have a non-stock setup or a swapped 13B, you could well have a carb'ed 13B.

A couple photos of your engine compartment and your problem area would also clear things up nicely.

He states that he does not have a carb-
it talks about having a carb, i have a 13b. but im assuming its the same thing just minus removing the carb right?

His posts from other threads state that he has a GSL-Se.
Like stated SE's do not have the water o-rings in the intake, end of story!

The NA 2nd gens don't have them either. Only the 12A and the 13B turbo cars have them.

Are you blowing white smoke, just losing coolant, or what? If you tell us what is going on, then we could better help. Pineapple and your friend may have thought it was the o-rings due to not enough info given to them. If you say you have a 1st gen, most are going to assume 12A.

your right i do have a gslse. but if my car doesnt have orings, then what is leaking the coolant down to my exhaust manifold area under the heat shield?

its not the hoses. ive checked those multiple times with and without the car running.

It's not a matter of if you don't have o-rings, you don't have them!

As far as you leak I have given you the 2 main possibilities.

You have options.

1) Get some coolant dye and put it in your radiator. Napa sells it. Buy the Back light bulb that is used to detect the leak.

2) Have the system pressure tested.

3) Pull the upper intake and T/body and inspect the nipple that is at the rear iron and hose where it attaches to the nipple. Remove the other hose from the goes from the back of the water pump housing to the t/body and inspect it also. Don't know what else to tell you.

If you don't have a CA-spec car, the sub-zero system is also connected just above the manifold and that could leak small amounts of coolant (the sub-zero setup uses a mix of coolant/water). Not very likely and you probably have a CA spec car since you are in San Diego (CA spec cars didn't have the sub-zero setup), so this isn't likely, but a small possibility.

More likely it is one of the small TB hoses that is leaking or you have a small leak up by the water pump/t-stat and the coolant is blowing back when driving.

Just follow what Doc said and you should be able to find the leak.
