How can we get a count?

Reading DO Luck's account of his accident got me thinking today. Every day that goes by, there are fewer and fewer First Gen's on the road, just like any other car. I've read there were something like 58,000 imported to the States in 1980. How the heck would I find out how many are currently registered in any given State? Is that information available?

Just thought it might be interesting to track, over time.

Anyone know?

Thanks...and sorry about your friend, DO Luck.

[QUOTE] How would I find out how many are currently registered in any given State? Is that information available?
___

I heard this second-hand, but yes, in our state, that information is available. The DOL can tell you how many RX-7s are registered in this state, and they can even tell you how many 1984s there are, how many 1993s, etc. They don't have a mechanism to track the different "models" for each year - GS, GSL, GSL-SE, etc. They can only tell you how many RX-7s are registered, and how many of each year. How to do it?.. I'm not sure.. but call around locally and ask, and then call Olympia if you have to, or write to them.

It would be interesting to know..

I've got an '83 GSL with an '84 interior. Didn't even know that until I started looking at the differences between years

1GSL-SE + 18 = 19

Gunn High School has one FP FB and one ES FB and one stock SA. My auto teacher has another FB of his own.

19 + 4 = 23

85 GS, I'm still working on it. But, I'm really more anxious of the 3rd generation RX-7 because so few were made and I'd like to own one some day. Think about it though, aren't our cars just that much cooler being rare.

Yeah... there's too many being used at cheap transportation by people who don't know what they have...

Chalk me up for one on the neverending project status list.
