How Can I Figure out what year my engine is?

i havea motor, the PO said it is a newer motor, but we all know their not reliable, and i would like to know what year it is so i can get an appropriate counterweight for my light weight flywheel. do i need to take off the intake manifold, and look at the intake ports? it doesnt have a FMOC, but it could very well just have been converted. any inquisition.

The coolent line under the beehive will be a single line out on a 79 - 82 and will have to outlets on an 83 - 85.

'83-'85 most likely since it has a beehive.

If that engine has never been apart, it's 83-85. But you never know about the rest of the engine. One of my friends got his 79 engine back from a builder, and low and behold, it now has 81-85 front cover, and 81-82 rear iron.
