How bad is this...Beginning of the end???
battery box? make one out of plywood or particle board to place you battery in. The wood will absorb to acid that always comes out of the top of the battery and runs down the sides.
And as part of your annual winterization maintenance ritual, remove the battery to check the wood. The wood will keep the battery acid from eating the metal.
Ya, this isn't a mazdatrix level solution where cost is no object solution, but this is an old VW bug trick for the real world.

Very Nice!
makes me want to get my 7 painted.
It was a little embarrassing having a ratty paint job
at Sevenstock. But at least I wasn't the rattiest car out there.
Having a clean car might not make me faster.
but it may make me feel faster!
As for corrosion prevention. I prefer just going with a deep cycle Optima battery.
They are sealed tight, no leaks, no maintenance. You can mount it sideways, or upside down.
No need for a case. They are a bit more expensive, but you can let it discharge 100% and then
recharge it with no hard to the battery. I had one that lasted 7 years, and it spent most of that time
fully discharged.
After being in Japan for a year, I came home to find the battery in my MG sitting at an angle. The battery tray
completely rusted through. Removal of the battery tray helped facilitate the installation of the rotary engine,
but that's another story.
