Damn, this car looks good. I posted a thread a while ago with a vid of this car, and today i found some pics of it!

I was wondering, would this kit look good on a street car? I am investigating where you can get it..

I find the front bumper treatment interesting. Haven't seen anything like that before. Not a big fan of the running boards, but it looks like they put jack slots in there, similiar to the old Bugs.
Any idea what the 2 flaps on the hood are for?
If any of you gents run across the vids of the Rally Norway first gens, you will understand why the car is set up the way it is.
Nice pics, thanks for posting them.
As a street car: match the tires and wheels, stock headlights, ditch the mud flaps, lower it and you will need to make the front wheel well openings smaller.

Some of the reason is that for the same amount of money you can throw on a 2.0 litre piston engine and get about 300 BHP, you can get the lighter 20B with 500. Therefore they banned it.. (and blamed it on the noise levels)
The pictured car actually has to compete in the 2 litre plus class because its a rotary. By the way, the engine is a PP 13B, single carbed, producing 300 BHP and reving up to 13 000 (!).
Actually, i think the body kit resembles LUIML73`s kit, minus the front of course. I still think this is a great kit for the 1.st gen, but i do agree on the non pop ups of course.
Oh yeah, ill post some more pics of the winning car of the Scandinavian Supercar series when i find them. Teaser: Red, tube frame, bewinged PP monster, that blows 600 BHP Porsches and corvettes away!
The flaps on the hood is just there to cover the hood pins if you are wondering.
The flaps on the hood are just some rubber for protecting the hood pins securing the hood. They are needed per the rulebook. I've also heard about this 13BPP reving around 13000 from a reputable source.. sounds a bit high tho. I would guess around 10500 would be more normal. I have seen it dressed in black, white and now orange!
I know we have at least two of these original group b rally first gen's in Norway...

The best performance of the FB in the World Rally Championship was third in the 85 Acropolis Rally. The Peugeot 205 was unbeatable in that period.
I am not certain which version the RX-7 car was, but the 84 WRC prototype model was real development. The13B engine produced 305hp@8200rpm. It had rack and pinion steering! The rear suspension used parallel links. To get more weight at the rear the engine was moved back, using a dry sump with the oil cooler on the wing. Weight was only 2178lbs as many of the body panels were lightweight fibreglass. It was a legal road car, and one I would really like to own.
At that time for competition rating, the capacity of the rotary was based on the volume of four of the six chambers giving 2.616 litres for the 13B. Others argued it was 3.9 litres! The 1.3 litre specification was a tax dodge in Japan according to some people.

those headlights have to be custom made. the color scheme is different, but its purpose is to get your attention. it does just that and the car looks decent. its definatly making ome power. perhaps post a link to the vid of this car.
Are you forgetting about Millen in the early 80's in a FB in SCCA Pro stuff?

No, I had not forgotten that the great New Zealand driver Rod Millen won the SCCA rally title in 81. However, it was not an important event, no international teams competed and American manufactures showed little interest in providing support. You must remember it was basically an amateur series, not full professional. Work's teams concentrated on winning the World Rally Championship events. These events were run over difficult courses where rear wheel drive was a great disadvantage. Millen later built a 4 wheel drive RX-7 to improve performance but still lost to the Audi.
I am not knocking the RX-7, but the design is not suitable for rallying. The same limitation also applies to others such as Ferrari and Porsche. The fast cars are small light four wheel drives like the Suburu and Peurgot
