Holly question
A buddy has a holly carb that will fit my 85 gsl. He said I can have it for $50. My stock Nikki needs a rebuild so I am thinking about going with the Holly if all is well.
The search function has been disabled, otherwise I would go that route. Does the Holly have to be a certain model? If so, which models work. Any other necessary modifications when going with a Holly? Please send any pro's and con's my way. It will be greatly appreciated!

if its not off a rotary, watch out
You might have trouble getting it to run right. The ones from racing beat have been modified internally to run correctly for rotaries, but then again there is a guy here in san diego who buys the 600cfm from pep boys or something? and can make it work on a rotary. just make sure you know what your doing. good luck

Im running a 600 double pumper /mechanical secondaries not that POS vacume **** you get at PepBoys for $199.99
Heres what I got 4776
Dual feed double pumper.
On a RB intake, with a Holley blue fuel pump which I thinkis the best for its price with a fuel pump regulator for $110.
I run all this on a stock port engine with 110k original miles on it and run 15s,Im not sure of my exact RWHP,but im satified for what I got.

Heres what I like about Holleys,
Rebuild parts are cheap,
Upgrade mods are cheap,
100s of diffrent ways to mod it,
a Holley is one of the most basic carbs to tune.
Heres somethings I dont like,
If you know anything about drag racing,On a V8 they have to put jet extensions cause whenthe car launches the fuel rushes to the back of the carb,
WELL on a rotary the front of the carb(primarys) sit the the left of the car,YOU have to install notched floats and extensions,NO biggie
You can have shops do work on a Holley for your rotary,MOST drag guys run Holleys,MOST SCCA,Road Race,Auto X like running Webbers,Mukinu,Delatoro.
Some guys keep the stock carb rework it and use it on a 79-80 Intake (Which I have foresale). It just depends what your tring to acheive, and not worried abotu gas milage.

Since the racing beat street-port kit COMES with a vacuum secondaries carb...I don't see why a simple Holley #1850 (generic 600cfm carb) couldn't be adapted to rotary applications.
Holleys are easy as hell to modify and play with - if I planned on keeping the 12A in my car, I'd throw a used, self-modded Holley on a Racing Beat manifold just so I could easily tune it.

Holleys on rotaries suck ***..
I had one for about 2 years.. You can modify them to make them ok though..
1st you need to get the center pivot floats, because the position the holley sits, when on a rotary is sideways, so on turns it bogs..
Now, 600CFM on a stock port 12A is WAY to large!!!
600CFM would be inline for a large 12A bridge port.
Even a 550CFM is too big for a stock port 12A, you should go with a 465, that is about the best for a stock port 12a..
