holley wont idle
holley wont idle
ok guys we got the holley 600 set up with one more problem. the car will start and will idle but only for 30-40 seconds. the engine is already warm so its not anything to do with that. it just starts and runs for 30-40 seconds and dies out over and over. what do you guys think?

Well, if your car has a stock ported engine, then a 600 is HUGE.

okay.. '89 13b... not so big looking now. Should be alright methinks.. could require tweaking though.
Check for vacuum leaks everywhere. Simplify wherever you can and triple check everything. Once you're satisfied with that, pull the plugs and check if they're wet to make sure it isn't flooding. If it's not, make sure it's getting enough gas.
After that, good luck is all I can say. I don't know much about holleys, but I know on Nikkis you've gotta make *forkin* sure there are no vac leaks, then check fuel pressure, fuel level in the float bowls and go from there. What are you using as a pump if you've got a carbed second gen? and as an FPR? What pressure are you running?
Don't forget also to check tightness of the throttle cable. Though that's usually related to high-revs and not stalling out, I still always check it anyway because it ended up being one of the causes of my big carb problems. Besides, you wanna make sure that when you're driving it, when your foot's at the floor your butterflies show WOT, and when you're off the pedal it's closed.
Hmm... Carb guys? I'm out of ideas.

the car is running now, for some reason the pump only runs when the car is cranking. we just hard wired the pump connector in behind the drivers seat to the battery until we can get it connected to be on when the ignition is on.
Up and running good, just gotta put in a cutoff switch from the carb to the pump.
that adn tune and adjust the accelerator cable.
i can tell a HUGE difference in performance so far.
with the throttle cable not allowing me to go a little over a quarter throttle as it sits, its almost as fast as when i used to floor it before the carb.
