holley red pump install question

Can a holley red be mounted in the stock location horizontally? Or does it need to be mounted vertically. I think its a rotary vane pump so i'd assume it'd be ok. I just want to make sure the motor or bearings or anything will be ok if mounted horizontally. I haven't been able to find any info in searching. I bought the pump off ebay and it didn't cofme with any instrustions, and holley.com doesn't have any info either.

from what I understand it's the design of the pump. Gas leak can occur if mounted incorrectly according to warnings on the box. So dont take the chance. If your looking to mount a fuel pump horizontally than get a diffrent pump thats designed to be mounted that way....not holley red, blue or black fuel pump..

I burned out a Holley Blue which was in the trunk (fuel tank is inside the trunk also) of my RX3 so when I replaced it I ran a flex hose through one of the drain holes as I found out the Holley's aren't cooled by the fuel so they need air flow to cool them. problem never resurfaced.

They have to be mounted upright as previously stated.
