holley mating

do holley carbs have different bolt patterns?(where they mate to the intake manifold) or are different models different patterns.

i plan to adapt my stock intake manifold to accept a holley carb. i think i've seen it done before, but i can't remember where. this will probably involve drilling new holes for the studs and maybe resizing of the manifold ports.

so...is it possible?

also, i notice racing beat uses a 465cfm holley for their 12A stock port setup..so would a chokeless mech secondary 450cfm be adequite? the other alternative is a manual choke edelbrock 500cfm. do edelbrock and holley use the same bolt spacing?

Yes they have many different models. But for your purposes a 4150 or 4160 squarebore pattern is what you want. Peejay adapted a holley to his stock intake. izzmus or whatever is his site. A 450 will be a good fit.

went to the holley website trying to see what series this carb is..couldn't find it. any insight?

would a 600cfm be too march carb? i'm thinking it will be...but couldn't i adjust the jets to run properly?

:edit: typed in 4160 as a search at summitracing and found the carb. it states it as being a square bore.

it's sorta like that. finding out if the holley carb wants to hump my stock intake mani.

anyone ever try that FPR from Victoria British? it's very inexpensive...wonder if it's worth a crap.
