Holley Carb

I was wondering if anybody has used a Holey carb that is not from RB. They say they have reworked them to have more airflow but i was just gonna but the intake manifold and use the Holley that was on my brothers 350. Just wondering if anyone knows how much they modify the carbs at RB.

They open up everything they can. Starting from the jets on down...oh and they wont tell you everything theyve done. All theyve told me is "oh weve drilled them but dont know the size it is now" and they wont tell you what size drill bits theyve used. They keep there secrets !! There good carbs but many people have had problems tuning them cause they dont know everything RB has done to them.

yea I agree, I have one on my 86 6-port. It runs good right out of the box, but kinda hard to tune, because you don't know where you are starting from. you can take a good guess, because people have modded holleys to work. Just search.

All you really need is some silicone tubing, a tee fitting, and a barb to thread into your fuel weep hole and you can run whatever you want. Or premix....

I have 600 CFM holley and was wondering if I could just bolt that up to my 12a with a RB intake instead of buying a new carb, as long as its getting a lot of fuel and air it should create good hp. I dont see why I would need a RB carbwhen all they have is a 465 that is jetted.

Don't put a holley on it, I hate mine, it sticks at WOT, can't take a right-hander, and runs rich as a bitch. I know I could fix all that, but I've ordered a Sterling. Besides, a 600 is too big unless you have a monster SP, or a BP.

You can just put the 600cfm..it will work, just as long as you install 2 MSD ignitions to burn up that fuel.If not your car will just flood, like i said its more fuel than necessary but as long as you increase the spark youll be more than fine.

it's actually pretty easy to tune the holley. costs a little though. is your engine ported? let me know. to tune it right would cost you around say $70 at the most. so get in touch when you plan on doing it and i can give you some good tips

the 465 cfm holley is perfect for the stock port engine, what i used to run. the 600 cfm holley is more suited for streetport engines, what i use now. i had a mikuni at one time and imo, the holleys and those big 2bbl carbs are about the same at wot. the holley yields slightly better mileage due to the smaller bore i think.

Its just a stock port 12a. But i just thought that since they modify a 465cfm, then a stock 600 cfm would work fine, but i guess not. I just didnt want to spend all that money on the carb if i could use the one i have.

well if your planning on going holley anyways, then you might as well try it, not gonna really just possibly wont run well.

I would contact carl or sterling though. For a stockport they're your go to guys and you keep the nikki on

We're gonna have to figure out something to use all these old Holleys for.

Oooooh.
How 'bout the Holley Four Barrel zip-gun?

i just thought of something. might be a little off teh wall here but bear with me.... If nascar can use restrictor plates could it be possible to do the same thing for this application? Instead of limiting power we would be using it to limit flow of carb? sterling your the man on how this crap works, any thoughts?

BTW if this idea works I want 10% royalties on all the profits!! =)

This has me thinking time to break out the ole q-jets and the big *** steel plates and start carving away. MWAHAHA

The only thing that'll make those Holleys worth anything for a rotary are some sort of venturi sleeve insert. Literally an effort to make the venturis smaller to increase velocity.
