never mind, the factory wires arent getting any current, my stock fuel pump works if I run power to it.... can I hook the factory pump up to a constant 12v source when the cars running? or is that going to burn up the pump?

You sure it's not getting current? On same models the pump only works when the engines turned on. The easiest way is to use the old wiring to power a relay and run a new positive from the battery to the pump via the relay. Ground the pump straight to the chassis. This a lot better than using the stock wiring.

Can this be yet another '84-'85 fuel pump relay thread? I think it is.

Frigid, there is a relay that shuts the fuel pump off if the engine is not running. It is connected to the trailing coil. This means if the trailing ignitor ever dies on you, there will be no square wave signal for the ECU to switch the fuel pump relay on.

One way to test it is to crank the engine for a couple seconds. It's quick, but you may be able to hear the fuel pump relay click off. Or I suppose you could remove a fuel line and see if it flows when cranking the engine. Or better yet, since you're already down there checking the fuel pump itself, maybe you could hook up a test light so that it's visible while you turn the key.

I agree with REVHED. Run a new 10 AWG wire from somewhere (the battery is probably a good idea) down to the original fuel pump wiring.

thanks guys :] havent mounted or wired the holley pump yet, but did get the stock pump going again, it was the wiring under the hood. figure I should figure out why my carb is too rich before I jump up to the holley pump, hehe. whenever that edelbrock tuning kit comes in, I'll trow ijn some different metering rods and see what happens
