Hmm it seems by others who post thier stories about thier rotaries here (and me driving my FB since april now) that these rotaries 12A and/or 13B's NA are just not that GREAT off the line...i mean after that its fast but 1st gear isnt all that powerful (is this true??)....anyways maybe its just me (because well i need to still fix a few things in my 82' GS...carb rebulid, new catalytic converter, etc.) but still is this really true you guys...if it is oh well I still love my FB.....just curious thats all.

That's correct, stock ones are slow off the line. Remember as you increase hp, you increase torque. With that you need to get it to the rear wheels faster, thats where a light steel
flywhell comes in to reduce inertia. rx7doctor

Rotaries have less moving mass outside a 4" diameter (from the center of the E shaft) than a typical boinger. I'm not quite sure how to eloquantly add this info to this thread, but suffice it to say, a rotary will stall more easily at idle than a 4 cylinder under the same conditions.
