Question High RPM

I just got home and when I was opening the side gate to my house I got back in the car and put it in reverse...I did a dam burnout but thought I just gave it to much gas...I usually let it sit for a few mins to cool off...then I noticed that it was staying a 2000 RPM...So Im wondering why it was doing that...I was driving it pretty fast on the Beltway here in Las Vegas...about 120 MPH...is it just running higher to cool more and then eventually the RPM's will go down...?

Start by check you throttle cable. Make sure it's not sticking. Carb or EFI?

Clean that throttle body if you got one.
