Angry this high pitch noise is KILLING me!!!!

Ok, so my car is making this really REALLY high pitch noise. It's coming from the wires that are right near the fuse box. I thought it was coming from the speaker, but it isn't because I took the speaker out, turned on the car, and it was still doing it. So it's not the speaker. If I turn on the car, it does it. If I turn on the car, and turn the key back to the "off" position, but leave it in the car, the sound stays. if I take the key OUT of the ignition, it turns off. Anybody have ANY idea what is making this noise? It's seriously driving me crazy

thx

~Andrew

Check the oscillator, right behind the driver's side headlamp, it controls the low coolant beeper. It looks like a small black relay with 4 wires on it I think.

It's the you-left-the-key-in-the-ignition-and-you-have-a-door-opened-or-not-properly-closed alarm.

I hear my monitor emitting a high-pitch noise all the time. Seems my hearing works in a higher than normal range

Me too. Monitors, tv's. It drives me nuts when someone leaves a tv on, and shuts off the DirecTV/Cable/VCR/DVD player, so the screen is black, and there is sound other than that hellish squeal.

Mine did that too. What I found was my dome light was supposed to be on, but it had no bulb. So I think I put it on "off" and it stopped making the noise. Mine did it only when the clear plastic cover was on over the light.

BTW, I drove with the noise for over a month, an hour trip each way to and from work, 4 days a week. It helps if you leave the windows down (:

i agree i'll walk into a house and will imediately know if theres a tv on the only way i can stand it is to have music on or the sound system. it must come from hearing every little sound on your 7 and wondering what it is. Is it just me or do things on the seven fix themselves?
