FL High altitude compensator removal

I've found numerous threads saying to remove the HAC. None I've read say how to block the holes left after the removal. I'd just put it back on but neither of the carb kits I bought came with a replacement gasket.

Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks

Some use J-B Weld, others drive small ball bearings into the holes. Third option is to make a cover plate and gasket if you want the mod reversible.

I don't see what the point of removing it is, except for simplicity I guess.

Anyways, I just used JB weld.

I just stripped my carb the other day, and used some 1/8" aluminum and a jigsaw with a mild metal blade on it for a block plate. I'll post up pics here in a few hours, it looks good in my opinion. It was super easy to make, and I even got the aluminum for free from a local steel place.

No, but try these.
I always use plates too, JB weld shrinks in contact with certain chemicals, even antifreeze.

Don't worry, immediately after taking these pics, i tore my nikki down and rebuilt it! Pic in one second... so I'm not ashamed of that hideous carb above!

Proof! (much better then before at least....)

I've never rebuilt any carb before, and I must say I had a ton of fun rebuilding this one. Enjoy!

Just to avoid any misconception of my carb cleanliness, the photos I posted were the ones jdmminot posted that Chevsica could not see.
Here is my carb after rebuild a few months ago.
My engine, that's another story...

Just yesterday I took the top off my 76 12A Nikki and did a lot of trick stuff(I've actually been working on it for a month now and put it on yesterday.) Including polishing it in and out.
Went on my 85 Nikki, definetly adds a nice touch being spit shined and all.
