Hey Hanman
Here's the scoop:
Pricing (from Paul, as of 5/14/2001
Super Street Carb = $305
Pressure gauge = $47
Carter pump = check Summit or Jegs, I think it was around $50
Holley regulator, check with Summit or Jegs again, I think it was $25-30, I don't remember.
Manifold = $75.00
The rest.......I replaced the fuel lines and fuel filter while I was doing it. And since my car is my daily driver, I bought a used 81+ carburetor and manifold. I shipped these to Paul. I would say once he received them it was around 7 weeks. I can't remember for sure. It was worth the wait. Here is what Paul states for the record on lead time:
"The turnaround varies depending on how many carbs we have in the shop. The shop that does the replating of the steel parts has a 5 carb minimum. As a result we tear down, and rebuild 5 at a time. Typically we do enough carbs that this does not cause a delay, but occasionally we have to wait a few days to get more carbs in. The current work load is 3 to 4 carbs a week.
I am trying to maintain a 2 week turnaround, but I'm not there yet 2 to 4 is typical."
I think that is an overly optimistic statement.
More information:
Paul only works on 81+ carbs, not the 79-80 models.
The 79-80 intake manifolds are the best, unless you can find an old RX2 or 3 I think they may even be better.
You can't scrimp anywhere along the way. You have to have the pump, regulator, and the gauge. You could wait on the manifold though.
I picked up the extra carb and manifold on ebay. You just have to be patient. Don't pay very much for them. As long as all the parts are there, Paul will send it back looking like new. Maybe better than new!
Paul is EXTREMELY hard to get a hold of also. It is not his lack of customer service but, actually because he spends so much time on the phone helping customers with his carbs. I had the best luck early AM's, Arizona time.
Any way I can help let me know.
