hesitation is back (secondary diagnoce help)

3.5k hesitation ? I have a new fuel filter. if I bring the revs up to 4k then back off for a second or two then start to put my foot down slowly the engine will sound like its bogging down (really bad sound) This only happends when I roll into the throttle slowly, if I punch it, seems to skip the bog

could this be a cat? I put about 2k on my new cat. Seems to me the secondarys are not opening fully or something ? how should I fix this
thanks

note this is on the 12a

Sounds similar to what I went through. Turned out to be a clogged jet or two...

One other possibility comes to mind. Without starting another damned argument on the subject, how is your vacuum advance hooked up? If routed to manifold vacuum, it will retard the timing when you tip into the throttle which will reduce power. If routed to ported vacuum it will advance the timing when you tip into the throttle, which will improve response and torque. Flame on nonbelievers....

Fuel filter? I'd also have to say accelerator pump. It's probably old and hard now. They don't just go out of adjustment.

Here is your AP.

This is what it looks like on the inside if it's old like mine, see all that crap. This carb did run on my rx7 but not the greatest.

Testing jets on a nikki. Simple answer is its a pain if you want to be 100% sure.
You have to take apart the carb, might as well rebuild it at the same time.
you need to take the top of the carb off to get at the jets/air bleeds.

that has to come off to see this.

Also read up on sterlings writeups about the carb in the FAQs

For the jets, you can pull out the brass plugs on the side of the carb. Reach in with a flat head screwdriver and loosen the jets, but don't remove them. Reach in with a wooden toothpick, and use that to remove them so that you don't drop them. Then you can reinsert them using the same method.

Since it bogs when you are easy on the throttle, but goes good when you floor it, I would guess that your primary jets are clogged (if a clogged jet is the issue). The primary jets are the ones on the driver's side...

I was going to mention about getting at the jets like that but if his carb has cloged jets his air bleeds are also probably clogged as well, mine sure were.
