hesitation
Well i havea 79 rx7, 50,000 original miles with a new fuel pump and a rebuilt carb, and it feels like somethings holding me back like no power in the top end. What are some things i should look at. Thanks

I had no power in the top end, and you could feel/hear it missing. It ended up being way out of whack timing. Adjusting it fixed the top end, and improved my idle. Definately worth looking at your timing as it is a quick, easy fix.

The main cause for timing being off on the 79's is the points wear, timing doesn't just change on it's own. It can change due to the vacuum advance not working or the advance weights are sticking. The timing itself doesn't change position, just the mechinisms that control it. Simply resetting the timing will not address the other causes of it being off.
Fuel filter first, if that is good, check the exhaust, which is the most likely cause on an SA with the thermal reactor.
