Hesitating car due to rust
Just an update on my 84 GSL-SE that I picked up last month
https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/84-gsl-se-fuel-issue-904173/
Basically the car had a hard time idling when cold and trying to apply anything more than feather amount of pressure on the gas pedal would cause it to bog down and die. I repalced the fuel filter and was able to drive pretty good but still had problems idling. I removed the gas tank and took it somewhere to be cleaned and resealed due to the amount of rust that was in there. Today I pulled off the fuel pump and found the little 1 inch filter clogged up with soft rust. This is good because I am sure this is what was causing alot of problems. Tomorrow I will put the fuel pump on with new cone filter and find one for the gas tank aswell. Thanks to everyone for all thier help and insight and I hope I can keep this 195k un rebuilded car on the road. I will post more later after I get everything back together and try to run it.
