Heres my plan after my repair

well as a few of you might know i tore up my rear end, but after i get the rex towed and get that fixed its onto the electrical system..... this is one of the worst engine bays i have seen. everything this guys had done got its own ring terminal on the battery + and - !!! i guess this guy didnt know you could ground to the body well after that clean up im going to goto the inside compartments after running a 4 guage wire to the inside of it to power my 2 10' roc fos HE2s and my 1 12' HE2 and possibly my 2 700w 6x9s, but first i must attend to the rust. how would i do the best way of fixing the rust on the inside???? oh yea the previous owner had put the fuel pump on the inside of the car it stinks but is not leaking so i figure once i seal off that area it will stop the smell.

after the rust is fixed and the electrical system is hooked up correctly i need to think of my next upgrade for the car... it already has aftermarket coils, dist, MSD, carb, fuel pump(noisy as crud), K&N airfilter, exhauste, no cat

so i dont know what would be a good next step....... turbo?? but i dont want to do that right away i rather upgrade every possible thing before i do a forsced induction. so please give me some ideas i will be posting pics, once i figure out how to properly load them, and i get my car back.

thanks again guys
Chris

Rust is the devil.

While researching on old Datsuns, I found some methods of combating it.

Surface rust can be sanded or grinded away until clean metal is seen. Then you paint over it with sealer, primer and paint in that order. If the rust is through the metal, you have to cut all the rust out and then weld in new metal. Then seal, prime and paint.

As for your future plans, they would depend on the function of car. Daily driver or weekend cruiser or track monster. But of course, FI is a big step and it takes a lot of time, planning, and of coures $$$. Judging from your list of mods, you might want to try some suspension parts. Shocks and maybe lowering springs would help a lot with your handling.

Anyhoo, best of luck!

Thats top power handling as they blow up with 30% distortion. They problably have 150 continuous power handling. I did rust removal on my 7 about 3 months ago. Get a nice grinding wheel and just cut it out. Then sand the rest down. Go to a body shop and have them weld new pieces in. It cost me $400 for the repairs. Check out my site for pics of the repair.
