Exclamation Help wont start!

Everytime it rains my 7 gives me a little bit of trouble, but this morning it wouldnt start, so I went and got new plugs. Still it won't start. I tested spark, each port sounds like it has compression, and the carb is getting fuel. I then removed each plug and found the trailing plugs (top ones) looked wet and looked dark like oil, but my oil hasn't gone down. I cleaned each plug with ether and reinserted, yes the wires are in the right order. I've even sprayed ether into the carb and still nothing. The car has now stumped my father, a mechanic friend of mine and me. Anyone have any remedes or info that can help, Please post. car is my daily driver.

thanks
Matt

Well Id start by reading pele's end to all no start threads. You can find the link in the faq thread. Whats the condition of your cap, rotor and ign wires? Check to see that you have power to the coils as well. Do you have a timing light? If so then have someone crank the engine while you use the light to see if your geting any ignition.

The cap and rotor had a little gunk, but was cleaned. I don't think I have a timing light. I'm waiting for this jump pack to finish charging so I can test spark from all 4 wires and how do I test the coils exactly?

I suspect it to be an ignition problem or flooded. Read my thread and your question will change.

I walked a girl through some of that starting proceedure over the phone a little while ago. She had no knowledge of cars... Turns out the timing belt was snapped.

i just read it and the seals arent gone cause its a constant ptssh noise not a pt. too bad they dont make midol for rotorys. my friend sugested the cats clogged. personally i think he wants to just take it off cause its his answer for all the problems. granted after a year, the cat was shot and i didnt pass emissions.

A bad cat wont keep it from starting or idling. Not enough airflow at that low an RPM for a bad cat to restrict exhaust flow. You have an ignition problem if it wont start with the ether (unless its bad flooded, which its not cause you said the T plugs were wet, but didnt mention the L plugs as being so).

A bad cat will limit your upper RPM's, load, and speed.

Check spark and fuel.
