umm, isnt that welded to the muffler? i don't think it can just pop off or be put on. get someone to just weld that in with normal exhaust tubing.

well it usually doesn't come with the Racing Beat exhaust. It's a bolt on piece though. I am sure some guys have it on here. It's the connector pipe on top of the axle. It doesn't really have a name. But it is a bolt on. No welding is required.

Or find a pack rat like me locally. If he has an old junk stock muffler, you could just hack off the pipe you need. What muffler do you have that didnt come with the over the axle pipe?

Thats a pic of the RB exhaust. It looks pretty welded on.

As for finding the whole exhaust, I know mazdatrix.com carries it but I'm not sure if they ship to AZ or if you want the whole muffler.

Good luck on your exhaust!

hmm.. my racing beat came with the piece that goes over the rear axle. Also mine collected from a dual to a single right there too so I guess I just had a different model or something.

it's insanly sturdy, It'll still be there when the car has rotted away to nothing. As for the original question everyone else is right it doesn't really have much of a name, "over the axle pipe" might work I guess. I'm sure an exhuast shop could just make it for you.

Isn't it just simply called the connecting pipe? Or is that a different one? Cause I know a lot of exhaust setups state specificaly that they DO NOT come with the connecting pipe. Just a thought.

omfg that fuel filter looks bad :| I custom fabbed the pipe you are looking for, on my GSL-SE. It wasnt too bad actually. If you have access to a bender, just duplicate the old piece if you have one. If not, well.. then theres not much I can say. Get a pro to do it in that case

I am sure it's not welde. I think it's the older models that are welded. and yes it is the connecting pipe. I think I found a source.

PM me with ur address and I see how much it would be to ship.

Not sure where you bought your muffler, but the RB unitdoes have the pipe welded on. '83-'85 part number is 16432. I have the exact system as pictured and it was a simple, bolt-up job.

The connecting pipe is the stock pipe from the cats to the muffler pipe that you are miossing. In the RB picture, it is replaced with their dual presilencer section.

Racing Beat has dealers in Australia and New Zealand. Check out http://www.racingbeat.com/FRdealers.htm

its not mud, its just how fuel gets when it sits in the bottom of a tank for too long, and ends up solidifying and then getting caught in the filter. Mine was never near that bad, but it did get bad IMO.

yea the filter is gross. As for the pipe, the connecting pipe, at least how i understand it is the pipe that goes from the cat to the muffler on teh stock system. I forget the part # but mazdatrix has connecting pipes, mazda ones, and its not what he wants. The RB muffler comes with that over the axle pipe welded to it, so I have no idea what to say other than to have one fabbed, I'd be interested in knowing how you got the exhaus without that piece on it.

Timmya2, the pic you posted at the top of the page is the streetport system. (dual primary) And the snapshot that 1984 special posted is the single primary system which collects at the header and is one pipe all the way back. you need to be sure because the two systems are very different. The pic at the top of the page is kinda low res. but the two tubes merge at the flat spot in the square you drew.

Thats a good point you make 10,000. I think we're gonna need more info, like a pic of the actual system he has in order to give a more accurate response.
