Help,Wankel No Sparky...

help, I tried searching but couldn't find what I needed. I own an 84 se, it has a rebuilt streetported 86-88 engine. I just finished installing a 91 turbo2 transmission. It was runnig fine, aside from a crappy 81 tranny, before I stopped driving it. The car has been sitting for 3 1/2 months now, as it took me a while to get the transmission installed. Now I go to start it, and I can't get any spark. So first I pulled out a sparkplug and grounded it to a stut tower bolt. no spark. Checked the battery, fully charged, checked the fuses in the car all good. checked the engine bay fuse box ( second gen ) all good. Then I pulled the wires off of the distributor that come from the coils and grounded them to a strut tower bolt, tried cranking it, no spark. Connected up a volt meter to my coils, turned on the ignition switch, no voltage on either coil. Then I pulled off my j-109 ignitors and checked them each with the test light setup found in my hanes manuel, they both were good. I wasn't sure which relay was for the ignition so I checked all the relays on the drivers side fender wall, they were all good. I put on a new distributor cap and rotor, just for the hell of it. It has a brand new ignition switch. What else can I check??? Any ideas guys?

My favorite trick is forgetting to replace the rotor in the dizzy. Even if you know you did, pull the cap and check anyway and check the contacts isnide the cap. Other than that, make sure the connectors are tight on the ignitors and the rewire for the FC block is correct.

If you need the FSM wiring diagram, the link is in my sig.

Thanks for the fsm link Trochoid. I did read the faq, but I couldn't get the fsm link to work.
Anyways, I checked all the components in my ignition system, and everything was working. But no spark. I checked for contenuity through all the suspected wires, all good.
Checked all my connections and grounds nothing. I then removed my ignitors and reinstalled them in the reverse of where they had been previosly, ie. trailing @ leading and visa versa. Now, all of a sudden, everything works. Go figure. So I pushed it to the nearest hill (thank God for light weight 1st gens). yadda, yadda, yadda, now I'm back in the 7. and what a great feeling it is after driving a Ford tortise for the last four months. I couldn't have done this without all the help from everyone on the forum, and all the help from God Himself. Ask and you shall recieve.

Congrats on the successful trouble shooting. Try the FSM link again, it usually works but may occasionally be over bandwidth.

glad you got the car up and running! ignitors are always a good bet to check if everthing else is ok.
